Edward Schafrath

Drafted into the Vietnam War in 1967, Ed was assigned to the 9th Infantry and deployed to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.  Part of the Mobile Riverine Force, he fought during the Tet Offensive.  During one battle, Ed was injured when a bomb left him littered with shrapnel.  Despite the dangerous environment in which Ed was entangled in Vietnam, he still found time to look outside himself and show others acts of kindness and love.  For his courage during the battle and the injuries he sustained, Ed was awarded the Purple Heart.  Thank you Mr. Schafrath for your service to our country.
